Atrocious.
Typical fake-u-mentary (think blair witch style) with lots of shaky camera work and a predictable ending.
I don't know why I keep watching stuff like this hoping for something new to surprise me.

The last movie I saw was Batman. ...and I think I might like to keep it that way for awhile.

I kinda did, too. A lot of people railed on it, though.

Yeah, I just rewatched The Dark Knight Rises and it actually kinda blew... me away. What an epic piece of in-your-facery. Damn!

I watched "I'm Still Here" a couple of days ago. It's that "mockumentary" that Joaquin Phoenix did when he got fat, grew a beard and tried to become a rapper. Shit was hilarious and awkward. So many people got pissed off about the movie but I don't understand why. It was super funny and was done well enough that many people thought it was actually real.

Just watched Drive. Excellent movie. Ryan Gosling is a dreamboat. No homo.
Watched Bronson a couple of months ago. Holy fuck, that movie is awesome.
These two films are now on my top 20 list. They also both have excellent soundtracks. They're on Netflix if you haven't seen them yet.

The Expendables 2. It's silly and it knows it. It's smack full of groany bits that are made even more cheezy on purpose. Like every time Chuck Norris shows up he has an Ennio Morricone style soundtrack and every scene with the Arnold has a catchphrase joke. The shining stars of the film are the truly uncomfortable Dolph Lundgren and Jean Claude Van Damme who seems to relish in his part as the evil Vilain (that's his name, no foolin).

Prometheus
Wow, what a disappointment. I felt like I sat through an entire film where nothing of importance happens to people that I could not give a shit about. Oh, maybe because I actually did sit through a film where I felt that way. The stupidity of the characters and the horrible writing... holy shit. It's visually amazing and the score is great but the story and characters are absolute shit.
EDIT: Okay, maybe I'm being way too harsh. I DID actually enjoy it... Somewhat. But the characters and their actions were fucking retarded. I think the most enjoyable parts - aside from the visuals - was anticipating something great to happen... but it never really happens.

The more I think about Prometheus the worse it seems. I think I just really needed it to be fantastic. Perhaps it will redeem itself a bit on a second viewing but it's strange how the disappointment didn't kick in until much later. I can usually spot a disappointing movie in the trailer.

i'm still very pleased with prometheus.
'lawless.' not hillcoat's best work, but it's rough and violent and hits where it hurts. nick cave delivers on the script and soundtrack. there's just something about it... that hints hillcoat is going more mainstream. maybe because the production was so much higher shelf than that of 'the proposition.'
