Yuuuuup. Been stoked since this was announced. Fucking finally. Unfortunately we gotta wait until Sep-fucking-tember for the album. Already pre-ordered the deluxe edition. But the wait will be a chore. Here's the first single "Came Back Haunted": Pretty decent. Every NIN single since "The Hand that Feeds" has been the worst track on the album, in my opinion. So, I wasn't expecting much. I do think it's the best single he's put out from the last three album though. What's really cool is that Russell Mills, who did the artwork for TDS, did the artwork for this album: And hesitation marks/hesitation scars are typically found on someone who committed suicide or attempted to.

When 'discipline' came out, it was a very misleading single, considering how heavy and experimental most of the rest of the album was. I've reached the point where I really trust Trent to put out a decent product whenever he feels like it. There has been so much stellar material in the past decade, not to mention how varied his projects have become, that he can do whatever he wants without some asshole calling for TDS again.
And that album art subtly makes me very happy. I have some of the TDS supplemental art as my desktop background because it's all feathers and rust and mud, which have largely become the aesthetic of my life.

TDS was one of the first NIN album I got and I was enthralled by the brutal imagery. Russel Mills did the artwork for the new album Hesitation Marks. So, it'll be a nice departure from his NIN's recent stuff (though I LOVE Sheridan's stuff, especially WT's artwork). Since WT I've grown to expect the first single to be the worst. This track beats the shit outta "The Hand that Feeds" (even though I heard "The Line Begins to Blur" before the first single on WT and fucking love that song to this day. Definitely one of my top NIN songs). So, I have high hopes. I am a fanboy, no doubt. I won't deny it. So, I'll be excited like xmas for any NIN material. But that doesn't mean I won't know if it sucks or is mediocre (i.e. The Slip).

So, we've gotten studio versions/album versions so far of:
• Came Back Haunted • Copy of a • Everything • Find My Way
All of which I've greatly enjoyed (even though some people are bitching endlessly about certain tracks) and yet still no motherfucking leak. They got this shit wrapped up.

'Copy of a' is one of the most sonically interesting tracks he's ever released. And I like how ballsy he is to release 'Everything'

Album leaked and it's fantastic.
Will need more listens and a proper listen all the way through while I have the actual artwork/book and CD. But it's far more exciting and mature sounding than his last few albums and is definitely better than The Slip and less repetitive than Year Zero. It could be his best since The Fragile or at least With Teeth (which I'm in the minority of loving and ranking high).
Also, there were some people complaining about him using a lot of the same sounds often with his recent output. This album sounds very fresh compared to all of that (and I'm not knocking the previous work). And "Everything" makes much more sense where it sits within the album.

I really enjoy the electronic style he's taken on in recent years. He's just about the best programmer and producer going currently, and can make caustic, unnerving, beautiful noise out of nothing like nobody else. AND he isn't afraid to throw a hook in there.

So I'm listening to 'Witha Teetha' for the first time in god knows how long, and it's totally.... making sense. The production on this album was killer. I had completely forgotten about this.

One of the most underrated albums ever (amongst fans), in my opinion. And without a doubt the MOST underrated NIN album period.
WT will likely always be 2nd place for my favorite NIN album and every once in a while it hits 1st place.
It was so refreshing to me when it came out and I didn't get the fanboy bitching about it. I didn't want another Fragile. I'd listened to that album for years already. Why would I want to hear a rehash? I'd have been bored to tears with another one. So, hearing NIN go in this more straightforward-to the point direction was exciting and TLBTB and RWIB are some of the most powerful songs he's ever written. I mean, that shit is so beautifully depressing and oddly uplifting both musically and lyrically. The very last note on RWIB is the very last note on the album and it rings with so much melancholy - as gay as that probably sounds to whatever homos are actually reading this.
RWIB is, to me, Reznor at his absolute peek lyrically. Some would say "Hurt" is but others would argue it's whiny or immature, etc. While RWIB is a perfect balance of reflection, questioning reality, and ultimately mortality. Shit hits me hard when I hit track 11 to 13. Get a nigga sum napkins!!! TLBTB is musically and melodically amazing, to me. Brutal verse into an epic, wide-screen chorus that sounds so goddamn nice when it hits. Like having your head held under water and finally being released for air.
Fuck yeah, With Teeth is amazing and everyone who says anything but is a pedophile.*
*Actual fact.
